LORI

Lori Rudd, head instructor and farm manager at Little Brook Farm, has received a Bachelor of Science in Equestrian Studies from the University of Findlay in Findlay, Ohio. Lori is a Massachusetts licensed horseback riding instructor, and has been teaching for 10 years. She also holds certification in Equine Sports Massage from Equissage in Round Hill, VA. Currently, she owns 2 horses and has worked with horses for 18 years.   Her varied background includes Hunter/Jumpers, dressage, eventing and reining.  She has participated in clinics with Michael Page, Josh Lyons, Andre Dignelli, Bev Barney and others.  Lori also is currently the kennelsman for Old North Bridge Hounds hunt club and is active in the hunt.

I am writing a note to everyone to explain my new situation and the new changes at LBF.

I have purchased a house in NH, which we are very excited about. This will be our first house, and it has everything we were looking for. It is a good size house, with lots of land and a barn for the horses. Unfortunately, it is 2 hours away from Little Brook Farm. So, I will be leaving LBF. It was a very hard decision, but Chad and I decided that this was the right time to buy a house. We start moving in the middle of July and I will be leaving LBF the last week of July.

Karin, X’s owner, will be taking over as Barn Manager in the middle of July to make for a smooth transition. She is very excited to be taking over, as she gets to go to work with her horse and she lives close by. She has been taking over when I go on vacation, so she knows the barn, horses and people very well. I am very happy that she will be taking over, as are Barney and Michael.  All of us are working on the transition now to make sure that it all goes smoothly over the next month.

We have found 2 wonderful new instructors!  Courtland, who has been coming to LBF for a few years for teaching, clinics and judging our LBF show and Michelle, who has taught in the area and has been a friend of LBF for a few years.  They both have a great understanding of horses, riding and having fun with horses and are familiar with our program.  More to come on both instructors, including their backgrounds and pictures.

Cricket, Cassidy and Pirate will be staying at LBF as lesson horses. Tam will be retiring and coming to live with me, Raven and Skye in our new home.   Beau’s owner has requested that he return home to live with her, so he will be leaving at the end of July.

I want to let everyone know that I am always available by email or phone if you ever have any questions or want to talk. Please don’t hesitate to contact me, now or in the future.  Barney and Michael will also help in any way that they can and everyone should feel free to talk to them as well if you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions about the future.

I will also be back to visit and for any barn get togethers. I will probably trailer the horses down to do some riding as well, so we will not be gone forever.  Thanks to everyone for a great past 8 years!
